Once upon a time in 1850, a bunch of farmers planted some almond orchards in the awesome soil (for almonds that is) of Sacramento, Monterey and Los Angeles. They probably didn’t have much else to do, because where their farms were situated didn’t get much rain. It reminded them of the Mediterranean climate they had pulled out all stops to leave behind.


One day, around 1910, they had so many almonds they started ‘The California Almond Growers Exchange. To cut a long story short, the exchange became the world’s largest nut processing plant covering 33 city blocks on around 90 acres.


Around 1915, The Exchange adopted as a logo, the ‘blue diamond’- that’s the rarest diamond in the world (in case you were wondering). It was a subtle way of saying; we’re for highest quality.


OK, so from then on a lot of other interesting stuff happened, our orchards blossomed, our families grew and our Blue Diamond Growers Co-operative became over 3000 strong. That’s a lot of us farming nuts obsessed with almonds!

Over the years, we have become experts in developing delicious, new ways for you to enjoy the nuts of our labor.


We even hold patents for our processing and product developments including one for making Almond Breeze so you can see there is a lot of history and family pride in every carton of Almond Breeze.
